PRSA Member Spotlight Blog: VP Of Silver Spikes Hannah Reizenstein

Hannah Reizenstein is a Senior Public Relations Account Executive at The Ferraro Group and the PRSA Sierra Nevada Vice President of Silver Spikes. Hannah has served on the board just over 2 years now and has been a PRSA member since the beginning of her PR career.

Storytelling, community impact, and professional growth are all things that drew Hannah into public relations, but her path into the industry did not begin there. Originally attending Biola University as a business major, Hannah quickly realized she was more interested in the stories behind the people and organizations around her.

“I had a friend who was studying journalism, and I really enjoyed tagging along while she interviewed people and shared their stories,” Hannah said. “After that first semester, I switched my major to journalism.”

She later transferred to the University of Nevada, Reno, Reynolds School of Journalism, graduating in 2022 with a degree in journalism. Hannah says the Reynolds School was one of the best decisions she made for her career. After a few internships in marketing, PR and social media management, she accepted a position at KOLO 8 News Now as a producer for Good Morning Reno.

“I thought college taught me how to work on a short deadline, but nothing truly prepares you for the fast-paced atmosphere of a newsroom,” she said. “It taught me how to think quickly, communicate clearly under pressure and adapt in real time.”

Hannah transitioned to PR in 2023 by joining The Ferraro Group. With little PR experience, she overcame the learning curve, and everything started to click. After three years at the company, she is grateful to work in a career that she enjoys and a profession that combines storytelling with real community impact.

Shortly after beginning her career in PR, Hannah joined the Public Relations Society of America Sierra Nevada Chapter to continue learning from professionals in the field and to become more connected within the Northern Nevada communications industry.

Since becoming a member, Hannah says PRSA has played a major role in helping her build confidence and relationships throughout the profession.

“PRSA has given me multiple valuable connections, mentorship opportunities and friendships that have shaped my career,” she said. “It has helped me grow my confidence as a young professional and provided opportunities to learn from some of the most talented communicators in our region.”

Hannah first became more involved with PRSA when Tiffany East invited her to join her Silver Spikes committee in 2024, which led to Tiffany and Hannah becoming co-chairs for the 2025 Silver Spikes Awards. This year, Hannah serves as Vice President with a great committee behind her. She is passionate about the event and what it means to the chapter.

“My favorite part is getting to celebrate the incredible work happening throughout Northern Nevada’s PR and communications industry,” she said. “There are so many talented professionals doing impactful work every day, and Silver Spikes gives us the opportunity to recognize that work.”

Hannah’s advice to other young professionals in PR and Marketing is to join PRSA right away and put yourself out there. Some of the best career advice, opportunities, and friendships she’s experienced were a result of her involvement in PRSA.

“PRSA and Silver Spikes have reminded me how important it is to celebrate the people behind that work and continue investing in the next generation of communicators,” she said. “Northern Nevada has a very talented and supportive PR community, and I feel lucky to be part of it.”
